What shall I do with these jeans?

I have a pair of jeans which I reckon have one more wash in them before the thigh chub rub zone gives out completely. What should I do with them?

Too holey for the charity shop, not the right fabric for cloths and I don’t want to patch them.

See if your local charity shop accepts rags. Our local one does because they can sell it to a rag merchant.

Burn them as tribute to the true pagan gods

Shorts. Convert to a skirt (v. easy). Cushion cover. Keep legs for patching future jeans.

thedevilinablackdress · 30/10/2018 18:38

Oops, just spotted you're not for patching.

I am fascinated to know what a face like a pair of rits looks like....

MemoryOfSleep · 30/10/2018 19:43

Rags for dusting if the insides are soft enough? If not, compost?

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 31/10/2018 07:38

These are all excellent, thanks.

Shorts I’m afraid is a no-go, they’re disintegrating where the legs meet the crotch seam.

I’m going to investigate the rag option.

I don’t have a compost bin, and the council, who are very eagle-eyed at examining the contents of biodegradable wheelie bin, only allow food, garden waste and shredded paper.

Only just discovered the ethical living section, and I like it!

The name is from Father Ted. Smile

Do you know anyone who sews or quilts? I love worn out jeans, I cut them up and make picnic rugs and blankets or cushion covers :) you might be able to pass them along to a local craft group?

ahola · 31/10/2018 10:59

Ah, thank you, I've forgotten that episode... might out the boxed set on my Christmas list Grin

Remember these two? Grin

OP I have a pair of jeans in a similar state. I'm about to cut one leg off and stuff it with some old raggedy clothes (mainly holey t-shirts) and make a draught excluder.

ahola · 31/10/2018 13:19

Oh dear, no. Sad I am so old, I saw them broadcast on television first time round, haven't seen them since- might have missed that episode. Am definitely putting Father Ted on my Christmas list!

thedevilinablackdress · 31/10/2018 13:33

Draught excluder is an excellent idea! Cat litter is a great filling.

SoupDragon · 31/10/2018 13:39

Cat litter is a great filling.

Fresh, not used I hope :o

MrsBrill · 31/10/2018 13:45

Cat litter Shock

My easily-confused cat would almost certainly think I'd provided him with a new deluxe (if slightly oddly-shaped) toilet if I did that. I'll stick with the holey t-shirts!

LoniceraJaponica · 31/10/2018 13:47

Our local recycling centre has a bin for rags.

thedevilinablackdress · 31/10/2018 13:55

😂 I don't actually have a cat, so no issues with the litter being used before or after putting in the excluder!

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 31/10/2018 14:56

Surely the best draught excluder would be the actual cat? Mine is fluffy and does bugger all. Perfect.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 31/10/2018 15:02

What right minded cat would sleep somewhere draughty?

MaybeDoctor · 03/11/2018 13:06

I have several pairs in the same state. Would anyone like a pair? PM me if you would.

One is going to be shorts. With a bit of strategic patching!

How do I make a denim skirt?
