I'm trying to reduce my 'single use' plastic consumption. There's a little zero waste store just opened in my local town and I'd like to give it a go, but I'm not sure what containers to use. They have round glass jars for sale there but I'd rather find lightweight containers with nice easy lids. Ones that take up minimal cupboard space. I was also wondering if ones with a spout would be beneficial for flour, sugar etc so they can be poured out when baking rather than awkwardly scooped, or if that would just result in clouds of the stuff going everywhere? Any advice or suggestions appreciated!

We use container with spouts and it's more clean and easy to use. Have you also tried using hermes clamp jars? They are also great containers for milk or any dry ingredients.

Personally I'd try and reuse any containers that I have in the house while trialing it out... as otherwise you'll be buying more plastic to cut down on plastic use?

So I'd use things like ice cream tubs, coffee jars, celebrations tubs, etc etc.
I wish there was a place like this near me, but as far as I'm aware the closest is 40 mins away.

I have my flour in old glass sweet jars, got them from a sweet shop years ago.You can get the plastic ones though as the sweet shops otherwise throw them out.
I use those plastic trays that take away come in,they are just the right size and the kids fit well.
Most if my loose store cupboard stuff is in old glass kenco coffee jars.
I also have lots of ice cream containers, and the small pate ones are fab for small amounts of left over bits.
My favourite are my Pyrex containers with clip on lids for putting batch cooking in.
