It looks great. Have you ever visited the stowmarket opportunity group?

Katymac · 08/06/2007 17:20

No - but I can google it later?

Looking good KM

Partially disagree about cheap house prices in NOrfolk, we couldn't afford to live where my parents do (N Norfolk), but I suppose a bit further inland and round the coast is cheaper!

Katymac · 08/06/2007 17:27

I couldn't afford to live in NN

But round here it's not too bad

Just googled but can't find any pictures. Just wondered as it's a great building, built a few years ago. It's kind of open plan with rooms off at angles - hard to explain, but if you're ever in stowmarket its worth a look.

Katymac · 08/06/2007 17:43

Nope - sorry

I am converting an existing building so cannot alter the outside much

Oh yes, of course it's possible to do that - but it is expensive here (close on £200 I've been told and that's before the extra charges for business rates, rubbish pick-up, etc.)

With 4 children of my own, as far as the Council is concerned, I can now only mind two children before I'd need to apply for planning permission (oh and they'll be counted in my numbers until they're 19!!!!), even though as far as Ofsted is concerned I can care for 4 (2 of my own are under 8, 2 over).

Sooo, the local council have effectively halved my minding potential before whacking charges on me. It's utter madness.

Anyway, the project looks really interesting!

Katymac · 09/06/2007 22:56

Don't pay business rates

Only thing it cost me was the planning permission (£220 - I think here)

The problem is that each local authority apparently has the autonomy to set their own rules and charges re. PP, which seems a bit daft to me.

It's currently being discussed with Early Years and a couple of members of our Committee to try and find a more sensible way forward

dottyspots · 14/06/2007 18:19

Katy, I was chatting to someone from The Green Parent (the magazine) and mentioned your project as something they might be interested in. Would it be ok if I passed on your details?

You can leave them on my blog: hearthandhomeeducation.co.uk - they won't be published as first comments are moderated, so I'll just copy them off, forward them to the GP and then delete.

They may not get in touch with you, but thought it might be worth mentioning, because you never know...

Katymac · 15/06/2007 16:48

Umm - couldn't work out how to say anything - so I CATed you

Hope that's OK

OP posts:
dottyspots · 15/06/2007 20:17

Absolutely fine, but I have no idea what a CAT is or how to access it.

Katymac · 15/06/2007 20:34

You should get an email (to the email address you registered with)

Hopefully you will have it by now?

OP posts:
Frizbe · 15/06/2007 20:39

Looks great good luck with it all.

Katymac · 15/06/2007 20:45

Thanks Frizbe

I am getting a bit more hopeful now.....maybe?

OP posts:
dottyspots · 16/06/2007 12:54

No, no e-mail - but I've worked out why now. CATS were blocked on my registration, so if you try again, I should get an e-mail through (hopefully).

Katymac · 16/06/2007 13:31

Done (I hope?)
