Anyone see this? Thought it was amazing, but I'm not very well informed re state of British agriculture etc. Really opened my eyes. Where have we gone so wrong in the last 35 years? I'd love now not to buy in supermarkets but 1) not sure how much use that would be 2) find it hard to shop daily elsewhere.

I'm not a fervent environmentalist but this was really shocking. Anyone else??

I have said elsewhere that I get enough winging farmers in my daily life I really dont need to see them on telly

having said that I buy most of my stuff from farm shops and try and avoid supermarkets

Ahh, right. Not too many whinging farmers in Newcastle so maybe I haven't seen that side of it. You reckon they are just whinging then? (Genuine question alert)

There is another thread on this under telly addicts....if you are interested.

well we get fed up with it - you never see a poor farmer in Dorset! plus their subsidies are massive (dh works in manufacturing and no subsidies to protect industry there!)

Whoooosh · 04/05/2007 13:04

I agree Enid-I really didn't feel a huge amount of sympathy for the farmers but the animals.

They did have it very good for a long time with the most ridiculous subsidies, now these have lessened,I do believe that small farmers are suffering.

I work too in manufacturing and have the most ridiculous competition from overseas but no subsidies.

Enid · 04/05/2007 18:30

I hear you! man that overseas competition is a bitch esp with dollar so weak

interesting what you say aboutthe animals

I have sky +'ed so could watch it i suppose

Whoooosh · 04/05/2007 18:42

$ is a problem but European subsidies more so in my case......(and cheap labour)
