Quite frankly, if an identity theif wants to put together my shredded and covered in rotting vegetables Personal Information, they're welcome to whatever they can get!

Allegedly you can put raw meat in compst but not cooked Not something I've tried.

I have a water butt but nowhere to put it! There isn't a single appropriate place next to a substantial downpipe!

. I put the paper nappy liners from BabyDragon's washable nappies in my compost bin!

Soupy - our Local Authority is offering subsidised water butts - and I think anyone in the Thames Water area can get them too - and one on offer is a v slimline rectangular one whch lurks falt to the wall alongside the pipe, rather than protruding in front of it - would that help?

cause the papaer is wet and thin and so will degrade quickly and urin is GREAT fro compsot... where i work they are getting a urinal to go strauh ti the compost.

On my link they do cheap compost bins.
Personally I think its a very useful site.

Blu · 29/04/2007 11:04

I will have to impress upon DS that he mustn't do it at anyone else's house, just in case they don't appreciate it...or he gets the wrong bag....

Blu · 29/04/2007 11:06

Yes, thank you, burstingbug!

SoupDragon · 29/04/2007 11:18

Will have to look, Blu. Part of the problem is that the main down-pipes are inaccessible due to extensions/boundaries/fences etc. It's mad

funnypeculiar · 29/04/2007 11:23

yes, burstingbag - great site - thanks

I think the only problem with bits of fruit is that they are more likely to attract flies, if it has a lid or you are regulalry covering it with plant material etc then it should be fine. Or perhaps it makes it to damp and mouldy.

MrsSpoon · 01/05/2007 22:47

I've been putting potatoes in my compost bin and now we have a furry friend!

If you live in Scotland this site will show you any offers running in association with your local council for composting bins.

It also has details on what to put in bins and info on food digesting cones???? for recycling cooked foods and meats???
