compost bins

advice needed for compost virgin.start at beginning!an speak slow please.

uncooked egg shells attract rats,

there was a compost bin here when we moved a year ago we filled it over the summer and i don't think its done a thing over the winter, thing is its not in any sun its shaded by the garage.

There is also another bin next to it full of ash - whats that all about?
