Can anyone suggest cruelty free organic face and body products that really work?

Have you tried Neals Yard?

skibump · 18/02/2007 22:44

mmm, good thought. Had some soap from there once that was nice. Do they do a whole range then?

Yes they do. I think it's mostly suited to sensitive/normal/dry skins.

skibump · 18/02/2007 22:48

Just had a look at the website - looks lurvely. Thx Monkeytrousers, heading back there with credit card at the ready!

Spirit of nature have loads of green beauty products as well as baby things, clothes, cleaning stuff etc. They even do environment kind nail polish and remover. Haven't tried any myself though. Here is the link: Spitit of Nature

Their beeswax lip salve is great btw.

We have a independent organic/local/fairtrade-y local shop and i recently bought some Faith in Nature products - Rosemary Shampoo and a Lavender and Geranium Bubble Bath/Shower Gel.

Smell fabulous, lather well (even though SLES free) and i am clean so i suppose that means they work. I really recommend. No parabens either.

Faith in Nature

I also like the Weleda Stuff too - the lemon shampoo and wild rose deo especially.

If anyone has tried a stainless steel deoderant, i would love to know how effective you found it.

Trevarno is nice - does a face cream with SPF15. I get nice fair-traded organic shea butter and cocoa butter from Akamuti, and have also just lashed out on some Spiezia cleanser.

They've all got websites. There's lots of nice stuff out there!

TooTicky · 19/02/2007 20:39

Green People have a very good reputation.

JackieNo · 19/02/2007 20:47

There's Liz Earle , though I don't think it's completely organic. Definitely cruelty-free though. REN is lovely.

portonovo · 20/02/2007 09:44

I like all the Lavera, Weleda and Green People stuff I've tried, probably Lavera is my favourite. You can get it all in most 'health food' type shops, or online.

Haven't tried Spiezia yet, though it looks good, or Faith in Nature.

skibump · 22/02/2007 20:54

Thx everyone. They have green people stuff in my local organic shop, so I'll try that, and also the REN stuff looks lovely. Any other support for any of the stuff already mentioned ? (personal recommendation always best )

We have a health food shop in Devon, and I love Lavera products for face stuff, Jason for hair and shower wash (lasts forever too), Weleda body lotions, some Avalon Organics but didn't get on with some of their shampoo, Desert Essence creams and lotions... I could go on! Deodorant wise I use Pitrok - I've had it for 8 years now and I think I've only used about a centimetre of it. I'm thinking of passing it down to the kids as an heirloom. I used Green People a long time ago, but wasn't terribly keen on it. Maybe better since then.

The Natural Collection catalogue has lots of these products in. They're on the web too, so if you get a chance, have a look. Most things you'll have to try to see if they work for you but it's worth it!
