At a dinner last night, a friend of mine was showing us her latest eco thing. Husks for washing clothes with 100% biodegradeble fluid you add to your wash. Looked interesting but I was sceptical. I told her I used Ariel & she gave me a lecture like you wouldn't believe! Apparently the company that produces Ariel (won't mention the name here) is the #1 killer of animals for testing their products. They do all kinds of horrible disgusting things, she said. I felt like a criminal. Is this hype? Does anyone else know about these washing husks and do they actually clean grubby, muddy & even poo-ey clothes?

There are lots of companies that have bad ethics and sell bad products - if you knew who all these companies were - not just P&G you might never be able to shop again.

I think that it is very hard to stop using the products that you are used to although it is good to change where you can to products that are more ethical and environmentally friendly.

i am interested in these husks - were they soapnuts? Like half shells, dried and a bit wrinkly?

NannyL · 05/02/2007 11:32

i think that is VERY true sadier

brands like tesco own and waitrose dont test on animals

i think that is the answer personally
and cheeper!, and normally as good as the brands anyway!

but then you give profits to tesco and tesco arnt exactly that ethical either!

at least waitrose are more ethical than tesco!
