Wormery

Hi all

New to this neck of the woods, just browsing from the pregnancy pages!
Am considering getting a wormery, does anyone have any experience with them. We live in a flat, but have plenty of space outside. But currently there is just the two of us, would we produce enough waste? How much of a hassle are they?
Thanks

I've had a wormery for a few months now, and I love it. I find that with 2 of us we produce plenty of waste, in fact, if anything, we produce too much liquid feed. I expect to harvest the first batch of compost after about 8 months.

We used to have a wormery when we didn't have a garden (we've now transferred it to a compost bin). They're great! This website is good www.wigglywigglers.co.uk . We actually made our own - if you do a search for make your own wormery there are loads of websites about it. You just have to make sure it is really well sealed and the air holes aren't big enough for the worms to crawl out.

It does take up to a year to produce a good amount of compost (it was just the two of us as well) but its surprising how much vegetable waste you normally throw away so its a really good way of recycling it.

We ordered our worms from the wiggly wigglers website but we were out when they were delivered, and then it was a bank holiday weekend! So I was on the phone to royal mail in a panic thinking the worms wouldn't survive for that long in the post office - the woman on the other end of the phone must have thought I was insane!!
