I think it would be a great idea

Not sure if it would work...but I am going to try & do some research

There must be some reason why not....& I will find it

What about good ol fashioned terries? I worked in a nursery that used washable wipes, just squares of torn up towels, soaked and washed in between every use. Bums, hands and faces.

You can compost bio nappies Composting .

You would need a wormery the size of a nursery to cope with daily nappy waste.
My worms struggle to munch through my toddler leftovers as it is, and I'm just a small scale childminder.

hairymclary · 09/11/2006 21:12

yeah, you would need several large wormeries to compost the amount of nappies you'd have from a nursery, this is true.

I agree about using cloth though, is that something you would consider doing?
the only thing with that though is that I think you would have to use terries or prefolds because they'd need to be washed on a boil wash (health and safety again)

I would like to use cloth - but need to consider the clothes the children wear - I am concerned that they won't fit

I used traditional terry squares and clothes fitted OK, DS just looked like J-lo. They can be folded not to be too bulky and dry really quickly and once they get a bit frayed they can be rippd up and used as cloths. I still have loads of terries on the go as hand towels and floor cloths, door mats etc etc. (DS is nearly 10 .)

Could you perhaps extend the idea and offer a nappy laundry service for parents?

Katymac · 09/11/2006 21:42

Great idea
