Thanks for the advice, I will spare you the hassle of explaining me more about it, the more that I know the more convinced I am that I need somebody to explain it to me with apples!

Anyways... unless you are in my city too, in my local Boots, mooncups are kept near the floor, but may be hugely popular as I got the very last one, although there were lots of the B size.

twinklingstar · 29/01/2007 19:44

Chandra, my nearest Boots is in a small town, so if yours is in a city, it's another place

Knowing how shops like to strategically locate products (think sweets close to the checkout) plus the fact that I clearly remember picking up my Mooncup from a eye-height shelf when I bought it last year.......... think my suspicions might be right

Also, a Mooncup can take a little time to get comfortable with, but really is worth the hassle in the long run, honestly.

I have had a mooncup for nearly a year now. It is good but find it a bit messy on my heavy days. (If I don't empty it every 30 mins, I flood ) but thats no different to a superplus tampon. I don't find it holds any more personally.

Worth buying one certainly. And every month I do get this smug feeling that I haven't had to spend any money on tampons. I think I have saved a small fortune.

Hello girls.

I bought a mooncup last year and found I needed to trim a bit off the stem. Got used to inserting and removing but, whatever I do, I still leak - even when the cup isn't full. I'm really gutted as I love the idea of it being environmentally friendly, and saving money once it's paid for itself through tampons not purchased.

I hate pads with a vengeance, especially in the summer when it's hot.

I've got the right sized cup - I'm 38 and have had two vaginal deliveries.

I've gone back to organic tampons for now.

I've just bought a Kegelmaster (to tone up my pelvic floor) to see if this helps.

Does anyone have any advice please?

Thanks.

ZisforZebra · 23/07/2007 20:52

You may be putting it too high. It doesn't have to go as far up as a tampon. Also, have you tried giving it a bit of a twist to give it a really good seal once it's inserted?

Does it leak alot or just a little bit?

FrannyandZooey · 23/07/2007 20:55

here is the manufacturer's advice on leakage

if you try all those suggestions and have no luck it might be worth getting in touch with them personally, as I believe they are very helpful

PrettyCandles · 23/07/2007 21:02

Chandra, do you manage to break the seal first? That's the trickiest bit, I find. If you don't break the seal first it's virtually impossible to remove and feels like you're turning yourself inside-out. I find it helps to try to spiral the Mooncup out, rather than pull it straight out.

poppies you have very heavy periods - I went anaemic when mine were like that, I couldn't cope with not leaving the house for 3 days, perhaps you should see your gp, or does it not give you problems???

swtb · 23/07/2007 21:46

Can't really remember how much it leaked - I last used it a year ago.

Thanks for the tip of not putting it up too high - perhaps I will need to trim off another bit of the stem or it will be protruding!

How sad is this - I'm actually looking forward to my next period so that I can try it again!! Oh dear I think I need to get a life!

I want to shout I LOVE MY MOONCUP like the rest of you!!!

tearinghairout · 23/07/2007 21:59

I've used one since Nov last year - it does take a while to get used to it, but it's worth it. I now find I forget to take it out & empty it.

Tip: go to the loo before you try to remove it first thing in the morning - a full bladder will help keep it in place.

There have been a couple of times, late at night when I was tired, when I tried to push it up the wrong way up - seemed so much easier...

bitzermaloney · 23/07/2007 22:16

Can you use one if you have a coil? My coil leaflet recommends against using tampons so I'm wondering if a mooncup would be a problem too.

Spidermama · 23/07/2007 22:18

Should be fine bitz.
