Anyone else know about this?! A bit fiddly but maybe hassle the local council?

Anyone got any ideas how exactly you would go about sending the stuff back though?!! I suppose you'd keep a cardboard and post it back when full??!

I saw this,( bank mag?) wondered what was the best way to do it.

I looked into this a while ago when we first started having innocent smoothies.

The map on the tetrapak website says our council is not interested but they do a mega kerbside recycling where they pick up everything on a fortnightly basis (paper, plastic, card, glass, tins, aluminium cans, etc) I can't imagine they wouldn't do tetrapaks too.

I'm v suspicious over this recyclng business though. I visited a recycling plant recently and although they were making loads of compost, they made no secret of the fact the paper and plastic is sent out east for recycling as it is cheaper to recycle it out there and the plastic can go stright to the factories in China, etc where most things seem to be manufactured these days.

Of course I have seen the watchdog type progs where recyclables are dumped into landfill in Indonesia and similar places....

bit of useless info. The heiress to tetra-pak is a chuffing millionaire and lives in my town. If it's any consolation, she's about 6ft tall, v manly and has the biggest hair i've ever seen

I'm a little wary too, but I'm taking the view that at least they offer this service. Does anyone know what they do witht the cartons when they get them back? Are they dealt with here or shipped off somewhere else?

Shipped off to a recycling factory in dev. world, I think. Our council has a collection bin at the tip, but I think most don't?

Hi. Tetrapaks have been recycled in Belgium, where I'm from (now you'd never had guessed that one ). I think it must have been for about 10 years, as it started before I left the country. If you ever go to the Eden Project or anything like it, you'll find some things they make of recycled tetrapaks: folders, key rings (I used to have one), diaries,... It's actually quite strong.
