Is it daft to compost if you are not a gardener?

Basically over the last few weeks I have decided I want to become more green, our garden is not particularly big so I don't think I'd be able to grow much (well that and I just don't imagine myself as green fingered athough a veggie/fruit patch sounds great :)) but I would like to waste less and thought about a compost bin.

Would it be daft to get a compost bin if I'm not going to use it or are there any alternatives?

Thanks.

Not daft at all - do you have any gardening neighbours who might be happy to take any compost that you make? Or alternatively, does your council collect green waste? If you have kids at school, do they have a school garden that could use your compost?

Or best of all, make compost, spread it over your little plot and start a small veggie patch. Smile Even if you're not green fingered, whatever you have growing out there already, will appreciate a bit of compost.

Compost bin is really good idea, especially if your council doesn't collect green waste.

Or you might want to consider a wormery instead.

Freecycle /Freegle is your friend. Sure there'll be lots of people more than happy to give you compost a home.

I'm not a gardener but I compost. It is oddly satisfying to turn rankness into fab soil. I shovel it onto the beds every now and then,

Oh, I use it in pots on the patio too, when i make time to do them.

Go for it. You don't end up with a load of bulky compost to deal with, it rots down so you rarely have to empty the bin if you don't want to.. And it is oddly satisfying. Read up on greens and browns.
