How green are sawdust pellets?

I've been thinking about getting sawdust pellets to burn in my multifuel stove and am wondering how green they are? Sawdust is a waste product, so obviously good if there's a use for it. But then if they take a lot of energy to make then that's not very green. I'm struggling to find info that isn't some just advertising - anyone on here know much about them?

It is resonably close to carbon neutral. Some is created by chopping the trees initially (as you say, it's a waste product though, which offsets this part) and then processing them into pellets does too, as well as transporting them around. But not a massive amount, much better then using coal or gas.

Excuse typo, reasonably!

Thanks jade80, good to know the energy incurred in making them isn't huge. Do you have any links where I can read more, please?
