Menstrual sponges?

I'm seriously thinking of getting some of these to try. I hate using disposable tampons and/or pads because of the effect on the environment; and I just couldn't get on with the mooncup; and I find washable pads nearly as uncomfortable as disposable ones.

So who's used sponges? Any tips? Best one to try?

I have to say, i love my Jam Sponges. I find them incredibly comfortable and very easy to use.

Give them a quick rise before first use, and scrunch up small then pop in and away you go.

Don't worry, they won't just fall out, you will feel them start to move down slightly, and then will be able to get to the loo - i usually go within about half an hour if possible.

IMO the only downside of using them is sometimes not being ale to have access to a toilet with a sink to rinse them in. If i'm out and about i try to either use a mother and child loo (i do have kids) or a disabled loo(and i'm disabled), but if i know thats not going to be possible i'll bring a waterproof bag and pop it in there and then rinse at home - Wilkinsons do fab little ones for about 79p with a drawstring - really handy.

I've only ever used JS sponges, no ideas about thers, sorry.

I think I'm going to go for jam sponges, purely based on the fact they're local, and she's a WAHM, and I've now had a personal recommendation Grin

I'm just wondering if I'm going to have enough time for them to get delivered before my next period now!

I found them really fast delivery wise.

Is it really silly to be a bit sad that my JS's are lying idle at the moment as due to pregnancy/bf i've only had 3 periods in just over three years....

I ordered them from ecomenstrual, because of free postage and 50p cheaper than from the supplier herself. They turn out to be run by a friend of mine, so I'm doubly pleased now Smile

How long did you try the Mooncup for? And what was the problem you had with it? It took me 2-3 periods to get used to it and now I could never go back to tampons.
