Honey bees in my roof.

I'm wondering if they are in there eating all my very expensive insulation...?

I'm more than happy for them to bee there, I feel quite lucky really considering the current decline. However, someone commented (a posh mum from ds school) that it was a bit odd that it didn't bother me as you can hear them scratching around when you're in the kitchen - apparently I should get pest control in as they could be doing all kinds of damage..... really?

Like what?

You aren't allowed to get rid of bees - they're protected. She's talking bollocks about the damage too. They're bees fgs. They will probably find another place to make a hive next year though - the ones living in my roof space did. Just leave them be(e)

Or you can find a bee-keeper who can remove them for you. You might get some honey in exchange!

Ta for the replies. They've been busy polinating my flowers and veg for me all summer so I'm happy to leave them alone til they decide to move elsewhere.

Phone your council - they'll be sod all use, but they should have the number of a bee keeper who might be able to trick them out.

No rush, although the ones in our neighbours' house have stayed for 3/4 years now. If the nest gets too big it might cause some damage just because they can get quite heavy, and, er, full of honey (stating the blinking obvious award!)

If you want to get rid of them, find your local bee keepers association and see if a local bee keeper will pick them up for you. Our local bee keepers are very helpful at this!

I think you should feel very honoured to have such guests in your loft.

A bee keeper will come and collect them for you. It was so cool when I had my swarm collected.
