I know MNers seem to be all about the mooncup, but I hate tampons so I'm thinking about washable pads/liners. Does anybody use them or have any recommendations? Thanks!

I've got some moonrabbits ones which are good (not too expensive & made in the UK also).

I have to say though that I hate tampons & have never used them but even so am a recent mooncup convert, somehow it is less icky than tampons, and much better for cycling than washable pads.

I've also used a natural sponge in the past but didn't like it so much (more like tampons than the mooncup).

i have moonrabbits and minkis

i think i prefer minkis but this is probably becuase i opted out of the waterproof layer, and i think actually the waterprrof layer is necessary

Yes, I've got the m/r ones with the waterproof layer, don't think they'd work well without.

I've been considering this for a while too. (I already use a mooncup but only on the heaviest days if you see what I mean, otherwise would prefer towels).

Can I ask, how do you wash them? And do they get very stained, or is there a cunning trick to getting the blood out (I never seem to manage to get bed linen etc clean )?

I've got ella's house ones. They don't have a waterproof layer and I would say they do need one! They are very comfy but I never manage to get the stains out completely. I soak them if tey're not going in the wash immediately. Otherwise I spray them with a bit of stain remover before I wash them.

The ones I've got are brushed cotton with patterns.

I don't soak them or anything, they just get chucked in the same wash at 30C as everything else - they don't seem to stain at all.

I think it must be the brushed cotton - before that I had some Swedish ones, can't remember the brand, but they were a bit more 'professional' looking with white covers, and they did stain after a while. Mind you given that I must have had them a good 15 years before they got tatty I guess it was fair enough . . . .

Well, I've ordered some pantyliners from various brands to see what I like - just as a starting point. I'm relieved to see they should last a good long time.
