Positive on negative gender role models in TV

Just been reading a tread about xena warrior princess a New Zealand TV produced series which aired in the US and UK a few years ago .

It reminded me of the importance of positive role models

it showed a young woman clad in leather going around generally doing good and battling against repression of men who dominated the ordinary life's of people .

It portrayed her as a powerful no nonsense princess warrior who could do anything without blood or guts , my kids enjoyed it and I believe it did them good to see such a powerful young woman as a role model

Today the TV Influencer's have change landscape and don't think we will see the likes of these programs produced again is this because of a change in role's or is it agenda or gender

Should TV promote powerful role model male female trans gay and would you let DD watch a Xena warrior trans princess and would DH be watching it .

Is it confusing or is that the idea to confuse a younger generation before they take a direction or make a choice or not

we promoted two forks in road with religion and social constraints years ago and now we have a roundabout
of choice with some kids who keep going around in circles confuse and not knowing which direction to take .

TV plays a huge part in influencing children planting seeds early in life do we as parents have the right to or should we just let them get on with it ?

Of course parents have the responsibilty to restrict their childrens TV viewing to whatever they think is age appropriate for them. Parents will make different decisions on this based on their own views, beliefs, TV preferences. I don't really get the dilemma?
