Goats milk/cheese

So - I am aware that the dairy industry is not v nice for the cows. I don't use milk -but love cheese!

I have tried a few different goats' cheeses (and ewes).

I am assuming (and hoping) that these are a more ethical option? No factory farming for goats and sheep milk ?

Does anyone know if I can still eat these with a clear conscience.

Not sure about goats' cheese but Wilmersburger vegan cheese is as good as the real thing IMO.

As with all mammals, goats need to have babies to start lactating. The baby boy goats get a bullet at a day old, though this may change if the attempts to market cabrito (goat meat) in this country take off. The same situation exists to a lesser extent with dairy cattle as boy calves of dairy breeds are worth nowhere near as much as calves of beef breeds. Some people do raise them for meat rather than killing them at a day old. The calves for rose veal (which are allowed to get a bit older than than traditional veal calves and also fed a proper diet and not restricted to crates which are now illegal) are mostly dairy breed male calves.
