POA how easy / difficult is it to do yourself?

Anyone done it themselves? Mum is in a rehab and will go into a home when discharged. I've contacted 3 solicitors to do it and they've refused to do it as they're too busy to visit the rehab and said they'll only do it when she's back home - which she's not going to be 🙄

Age UK suggested printing it off and doing it ourselves but keeping hearing it's hard to do, something about signing in correct order ?

Anyone got any advice please?

We had a solicitor to do ours and when we realised how easy it is we did it ourselves for my parents & MIL. It’s a bit of a pain getting things witnessed & signed in the correct order but it’s not difficult.

Its not very easy. Lots of signatures in the right order and it takes a number of weeks to get authorised but print out, look carefully at the instructions and who signs what.

You will need a witness and I found putting no dates on the signatures form helped too until everyone had signed.

Remember you are the Attorney and Mum is the Doner. Always a good idea to have more than one Attorney because if you dont and something happens to you the whole thing needs to be applied for again.

That's good advice thank you, it's only me but I'll get my husband to be the other one .

I have done it myself a number of times but not enough to not have to keep reminding myself how to do it!

I literally did some of it online then printed out and spread out on the floor to see what was what.

The reason why solicitors have a market for this is that it isnt very very easy. It needs some concentration but I have never had one sent back to me (have done 5 over the last 5 years!)
