Has anyone used home sensors instead of a pendant alarm?

We got mum (81) a pendant alarm after she had a fall last year. She says she wears it but nearly every time i visit, it's just sitting on the counter!!!

I've tried talking to her about it but she just says "oh I forgot to put it on this morning". I live far so can't just pop round and I want to be able to know if she is doing her daily routine, walking around, leaving the house, eating etc.

I've heard you can setup wireless sensors around the house for tracking things like front door opening, fridge opening, movement and and even if she has a fall. The company I was recommended is Aqara which sells some sensors

Has anyone actually done this? Did it work or was it a faff? It feels like sensors would better than a pendant which isn't worn

I've not heard of the one you have mentioned but we (local authority adult social care) regularly use a company called Canary Care for this and families seem to like it. It's less intrusive than cameras or carers.

We tend to use it to monitor patterns over a longer period of time to get an idea of whether a person is up and about during the night or accessing their upstairs rooms (i.e checking they are going to bed and not sleeping in the arm chair) or going outside at strange times rather than immediate/daily monitoring of a person's wellbeing but they can be used both ways.

If she doesn't like the pendant would she prefer one of the ones that goes on her wrist?

Many families also use things like alexa to set daily reminders like 'mum put your pendant on' or 'mum it's time to take your morning medications'.
