Concerned about DM

DM is in her early 80s, has had a number of falls and we believe she has the beginning of Parkinson’s and/or dementia. DF is very capable but has hypochondria about himself and dismissive of DM ailments. DM is very difficult and refusing to go to the Drs, as her daughters, in a different health authority, can we contact her drs and ask them to do a check on her?

Yes. You can. I've done this , in 2022 and 2023 and it was very helpful. Some elderly people will listen to a Doctor but not their daughter !

Thank you so much, for replying. Yes that’s very true, she gets very angry if we even mention going to the drs, but if they called her in she would go.

Yes, ask them to call her in for a health check, and to check her memory while she’s there.
Do you have POA for your parents, and is a will in place?

This is what I found too. If you give the Doc a list of your concerns and ask them to do a health and welfare check

Thank you for the reassurance that it can be done. A will is in place, but POA has not been signed. We have brought it up a few times (she wants myself and DSis to have POA) but she hasn’t got round to it. I will bring up again to her.
