DF has been released from hospital using a walker in the house and has limited use of his left hand side. He’s also been left unable to move in and out of bed independently. He has been referred for investigations into urinary incontinence and needs the loo 5+ times a night. DM is expected to deal with this at nighttime and carers come in twice a day to help him get washed and dressed. I’m doing what I can during the day to help give DM a break but I can’t at nighttime. Where do I start looking for help? What should I even be looking for? Is it reasonable for DM to be left to care for DF overnight when he’s like this?

In the meantime, could you purchase some continence pants yourself - they sell them in Boots.

Also sold larger Lidls, and on Amazon.

Hospital-sttle beds with electric functions can often be found on Facebook marketplace, after people have gone into care homes for example. Same for all sorts of disability equipment.

Is he having any physio?

Is there an option to pay for some private physio? Specialist neuro rehab physio sounds the most relevant.

The physio from the hospital is due to visit him today to assess what he needs

Thanks. We’ve bought a load of them now. I didn’t realise they sold them in supermarkets etc

It sounds like , as others have said, that he's been discharged with the 6 week 'discharge to assess' care package. If 2 visits aren't enough, he can ask for the visits to be increased.
Incontinence briefs sometimes work better at night (available from all supermarkets etc and don't need to be the 'branded' ones, the absorbancy will be on the wrapping)
Yes, ask the carers about a hospital bed and how you source one (should have a number for the OT) as this can make a lot of difference.
