Tumble dryers

Very mundane question but DM needs a new tumble dryer and things have changed since I last bought her one, which was vented and just has the one dial and an on/off button.

Is there a very simple one still on the market?

I've done a lot of googling and need to get down a shop but thought I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations?

TIA

Sorry I’d like to help but frequently refer to my tumble dryer as THE most needy appliance I have ever come across with filters and things that need emptying and cleaning! Certainly not for the lighthearted!

Could she manage with a little one? This just has the knob/dial but it only does 2.5kg a time.

It looks like you could use this one the old-fashioned way, ignoring the buttons!

I braved the shops late pm and have got one, pretty much like the last suggestion, albeit a condenser one. I think the water tank is at the top but will get it out of the packaging and use it, before taking it for DM.

I've not been shopping on a Sat for a long time, there were some really "interesting" people lurking around the retail park!

It'll be fine, very user friendly and nowadays they're very economical to run.
As long as she regularly empties the water drawer and the fluff filter, it'll be fine.

I've just set my own mum up with a tumble dryer and it is helping her a lot. I have several, at home and in holiday lets and think condenser dryers with a sensor are easiest. You can easily set up most condenser dryers to drain into the same drain at the washing machine, so the water reservoir doesn't need to be emptied. It's a little pipe that is usually supplied with the machine and you pop it on a port round the back of the machine and tuck the other end into the drain. The great thing about sensor dryers is they just turn off when stuff is dry! Empty fluff filter after each use. The condenser unit also needs to be rinsed out once a month or so, but perhaps you could do this when visiting?
Heat pump dryers are a pain IMO, have one and it takes waaay longer to dry things than the condenser dryer. Plus much more expensive to buy.

Thanks for the post^^.

I gave her the option of the drain, she wants to have a go at emptying the drawer but I think I will plumb it into the drain eventually. I got a Beko one and it's similar to the washing machine with several programs, so I think it will be better than the previous one, which was just turn the dial.

I'm planning to clean the condenser when I visit, which is pretty often. Ironically, I don't have a tumble dryer myself but mum loves hers!
