Suggestions of instructions & preferences for an LPA

My parents are reviewing their LPAs and are wondering whether they should put something in here rather than leave it blank as it is in their existing LPA. There are some examples of the gov.co.uk website but I thought it worth asking what, if you’re an attorney, you wished you’d known or thought about? Discussing this with my parents is also making me thing that I should get one in place myself - I’m only in my late 40s but enough friends and acquaintances have had tragic accidents in the past few years to make me realise that you never know when you might need one.
Thanks!

Are you asking about the health one ?
as the financial one is easy, just keep managing their money in the same way, normal birthday gifts and all bills paid.

i have just had lots of conversations with my parents and know they don’t want to be kept alive if there is no quality of life.

I have to say, I would keep that empty myself. I certainly wouldn’t search around for things to put in it. You can never be sure of the exact situation you will be in.

If they want, they could do an Advanced Refusal of Treatment letter (if that’s what they’re worried about) or have a Respect form discussion with their GP.

Or if it’s something else, just write, date and sign a letter about it.
