Falls alarm...

Looking for one for my mum.
Received a Your Stride watch type alarm that picks up mobile signals like a mobile phone does.
Unfortunately we are quite rural, and the watch wasn't picking up an signal in any room of the house - a 2 bed bungalow.
She doesn't have the internet either, so just looking for other reliable options

We’re also very rural and use the CPR Guardian 4. We’re having a couple of issues since upgrading from the 3 but that’s user error 🙄

Council will supply one but you will have to pay for the rental. Works great.

Lightuptheroom · 26/12/2025 13:55

Look at the one your local authority offer, it's normally a rental package

SleafordSods · 26/12/2025 14:27

We went through the council too.

We use a local authority's support system in the IoW. They are brilliant, the the local authority has to do the maintenance and upgrades as part of the monthly fee.

Is there any mobile signal in your mums area? If not then unfortunately there’s not a lot you can do. If there is you’ll need a unit with a roaming sim

CosyBungalow · 26/12/2025 16:41

Thanks, I'll check the local council
@Travellingarcher the one we're about to send back has a roaming sim, the various signals in the village are all pretty rubbish to be honest

Does anyome know how the falls alarm works if the wearer cannot communicate in English?

elastamum · 26/12/2025 16:57

If you are really worried and she doesn't have internet get a starlink satellite internet and then you can have alarms and cameras galore. It's not cheap but would give you peace of mind.

When they set up the care line they will log that the person doesn’t speak/understand English.

Their response when the alarm goes off will be to find someone to help, so if the client can’t understand what’s being asked or explain to the care line then care line staff will call the person’s emergency contacts or, if they can’t get through to anyone, they will either send their own responders or call 999.
