Sonic tooth brush for arthritic hands?

I was recently told about something called the sonic brush. It’s basically a kind or round automated toothbrush that you put in your mouth, as opposed to using a traditional brush (either electric or not) and brushing by hand.

I am thinking about getting one for a relative in her 90s who struggles with teeth cleaning, largely because of gripping the usual thin toothbrush shape. I thought something she can actually place in her mouth might be better (though obviously would need to be very careful with jaw).

Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this thing? I’m a bit concerned it might be a gimmick or (even worse) jump around in the mouth.

I can get one myself & try it but am a bit loath to flush £50 away if it is a gimmick and everyone but me knows this! I’m not very up on these kinds of things.

We've all got Suri brushes now. Very lightweight. Charge lasts 40 days so no fiddly plugging in all the time. And they are repairable.

Love mine.

And if you need to travel. (Hospital stays etc) it has a carry case.

Seriously good product and after care.

The horseshoe shaped ones that you put in and bite rather than moving around don't come out well in clinical tests. And you have to hold it in your mouth for quite a while, which sounds uncomfortable.

If its the size of an electric toothbrush that is too small to manage, a bit of pool noodle to go on the handle is a lot cheaper. Or an Eazyhold strap if bending their fingers round even a larger diameter is hard

EazyHold Straps | Variety of sizes available | Easy Hold

EazyHold straps allow you or your child to hold onto a wide range of items with ease. Attach to anything from your toothbrush to a toy!
