Where to buy pure cotton comfortable clothes for a 90 yr old?

My mum needs some new t-shirts and trousers. They need to be 100% cotton as she has a lot of skin issues and other fabrics can irritate her. She needs them to be comfortable so soft t shirts and elasticated waists.

I am happy to buy online but I haven’t got a clue which brands or sites to try. Do you have any suggestions please?

House of Bruar. Edinburgh Woolen Mill. Just got some bits for a 90 year old friend.

I found Landsend good for my super fussy mother!! Lots of pure cotton / elasticated waists / soft touch stuff and available in lots of different sizes and lengths.

And you can filter trousers for both pure cotton and elasticated waist: www.cottontraders.com/women/trousers_pure-cotton_elasticated-waist-trousers/

When you find items she likes Id recommend doing what we did for my dad.

Bought 3 pairs of the same trouser in 3 different colours. His were from M and S.
Bought 2 x 3 packs of t shirts in mixed colours that went with the trouser colours.
He had a favourite jumper from Sainsburys TU range. We bought 2 more from Vinted in almost same style but different colours that coordiated with the rest.
White vests.
Black socks.

My Dad has dementia too and this has enabled him to look smart casual whilst being comfortable and pretty much everything coordinates (greys, blacks and stone) so that he can dress as well as he is able as its a routine that doesnt change.

Thanks for the quick replies. It’s actually finding cotton trousers which is difficult as she has dementia and is in a care home so ideally I want pull on trousers with no zips or buttons. She is also only 4’ 11” so I need shorter lengths.

Damart and Cotton Traders have lots of t shirt options but so far only one trouser option and I am not totally sold on those.

Possibly the care home will be able to advise what brands their other ladies buy and find comfortable?

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 22/10/2025 14:19

There’s a website called chums which stock quite a few cotton trousers but I haven’t ordered from them so I can’t comment on the quality.

We struggled finding clothing for my gran with dementia as she had specific needs damart and m and s were our go to but I think you might have tried them already.

Would 100% cotton joggers work better for her, do you think? Rapanui have some pure organic cotton ones that look comfy.

BaronessBomburst · 22/10/2025 14:20

Uniqlo might have something suitable.
And try the teenage section of Marks and Next.
You can also get joggers without the ankle cuff so basically pull-on cotton trousers.

Choux · 22/10/2025 14:30

I plan to run my choices past the care home before ordering as it was the manager who advised all her current clothes were irritating her. I think joggers / jersey are out as she gets really itchy if she gets too warm and the lounges are kept very warm for the benefit of all other residents. So she needs to dress for summer even though it’s heading into winter. And everywhere seems to have had their cotton trousers on sale now and sold out!

off to check out chums

Marks do extra short, Edinburgh woolen mill do 25 inch trousers, bear in mind the carehome will use industrial washing powder and tumble dry everything to death.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 22/10/2025 14:32

Patra
Uniqlo
Earth Wardrobe
m&s

+1 for Lands End their patite stuff is very good, and plenty of choice.

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/10/2025 16:24

Typo: petite!

NotMeNoNo · 22/10/2025 16:35

Next have lots of t shirt multi packs in "The Set" brand, I was looking at similar for my DM in a care home. For trousers I agree on Lands End, don't forget the sale section. I still have to shorten all my mum's trousers unless I find 25 inch ones.

narniabusiness · 22/10/2025 17:03

patra is great for natural fibres and easy to get on and off clothing. They have pull on trousers but I can’t see different leg lengths.

EvelynBeatrice · 22/10/2025 17:06

Next. Just filter by fabric.

PermanentTemporary · 22/10/2025 17:06

Sea salt T-shirts/long sleeved tops can be really nice. Not cheap.

Trotula · 04/11/2025 19:43

The teenage section in M&S is good for cotton rich (77%) pull on trousers in a range of colours. I need a petite and find their kids pjs are great as I don’t like the legs and arms to be too long and they are also cheaper!
something like this, nice colour choices too!

unsync · 04/11/2025 20:02

Landsend. The quality is good and will take quite a hammering. They have 30% of at the moment too. They also do cotton long sleeved tees etc. If you get a lightweight jersey, you can cut a bit longer than needed and it will roll slightly so you don't need to hem.

I get M&S straight leg joggers for my parent. They are roomy in the leg so have a bit of ventilation. They were fine in their care home and didn't overheat. Tu can be good for 100% cotton too, but you need to poke about to find it.
