Incontinence pants for men

I wondered if anyone might have any suggestions for the best incontinence pants for my 84 year old DF who has dementia and prostate cancer. He has been wearing Tena Men active fit but is still having accidents a couple of times a week. He is still quite active and loves going out so it’s becoming more of a problem as it’s quite noticeable to others.
Any help much appreciated

Has he had an appointment with the continence service? They can prescribe incontinence products and have them sent to his home.
Has he been told they is no medication that might help?

My mum use ID branded pads. She gets some provided and then buys more from amazon. They do pads and pants for men and women and have unisex versions too.

I'm incontinent and on bad days use Tena pants, they're quite good. Most days I use period knickers that soak up extra wee, I don't know if they've made anything for men that can do that?

We haven’t really been given any advice apart from avoiding caffeine. I didn’t even know there was a continence service! Thanks for letting me know, I will try and get him an appointment with them .

They don't exactly advertise it openly! Assuming you're in England? You get referred from the GP. Then they ask a load of questions and then send you a bunch of pads/pants/protective things for bed etc every few months.
That way he can reduce the amount of the fancy ones he has to buy. They're not cheap are they?

There are some medicines that reduce the urge to urinate at night. Definitely get him to go to the GP and ask about both those things.

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I’ll make him an appointment with the GP tomorrow.

Has he been seen by a urologist to assess the cause? Is it prostate related or does he not react in time due to the dementia? The caffeine thing is because it irritates the bladder. Pants are not the only solution, you can get external catheters which channel the urine to a leg bag.

I think it is probably a bit of both to be honest.
I was surprised that it was soaking through the pants but I think he may not remember to change them so they get full. He did see a urologist early on after the cancer diagnosis but it’s got worse since then.

Have you considered washable incontinence pants? He might prefer them to pads. They look and feel like normal y-fronts but have an inbuilt super absorbent washable pad.

My relative was supplied with them after an assessment by the continence nurse. I can’t find the link to the ones we had but it’ll give you an idea what they’re like. You just pop them in the washing machine.

Sorry the link is massive!
