Recording a Voice for Posterity

I would like to record a persons voice for posterity. I would like it be a permanent record, not something that can easily be lost in some form of temporary technology - if you see what I mean. Memory sticks can fail, youtube or dropbox cloud storage (for example) may just wipe out your data at their own discretion as companies change hands over the years. So I am wondering the best way to it. Apologies for being a bit dim for missing any obvious solutions. Thank you.

I’d search for oral history projects they can participate in, perhaps. There is likely to be more effort spent on translating records of those into new forms.

It depends if your focus is literally the voice, or what they have to say. The MND association support voice banking, and i believe you can do that whether you have MMD diagnosed or not.

My DF died when DS was a toddler. While DF was still capable we went to Build-A-Bear and he recorded a message that went inside the bear. It’s a beautiful thing to have.

Record it however you like - your phone will be fine - and then have a custom vinyl record made - if you order several copies you can give them to different people.
The technology behind records is simple and they're pretty robust.
