Elderly parents

Attendance allowance re-application and evidence.

I helped my parents claim AA last year, the time has come to reapply. Both were awarded high rate.

In the form can I fill it in as before (both are as they were a year ago), and say medical evidence they received before still applies?

My mother is stable, her needs have not changed. My father has deteriorated so can send new evidence.

Just wondering what to do!

Are you sure you have to reapply? I don’t know anyone that does this. I work closely with a benefit department.

Thought you only had to let them know if circumstances change? So your father would need to update his health info and your mum’s would just carry on as it is.

A whole form arrived yesterday saying she needs to reapply, or it’ll stop in June.

Yes you can fill it in as before. Assuming she hasn't got better?

If any aspects are worse you can add that.

She may have been given a time limited award if she was due to have an op or other treatment from which her condition may have improved .

Complete it as before- I didn’t know you could get time limited awards. Just googled- fixed period awards.
I personally think you’d need to send all the evidence again, I’d ring them and ask.

Do I need to send the evidence all over again?
Can I say her needs are the same as they were last year, and as they’ll have dr’s contact information presumably they can check that out if necessary?

If you've still got your mums original evidence I would resend it in, to be on the safe side.
Otherwise a copy of your mum's prescription list would be good to send in.

I sent all evidence and didn’t keep copies, so I may ask her gp to write a supporting letter.
