MIL has had a stroke - LHS which has left her with RHS weakness and numbness in her face. Awaiting MRI scan already had CT scan. She can't tell them when the symptoms began but ended up in hospital yesterday afternoon but DBIL didn't tell DH until 2am this morning which resulted in him dashing to the hospital. They've also picked up she has T2 diabetes.

Could I ask for a handhold please, already had to go through a catastrophic stroke with FIL 3 years ago which DH didn't deal with / still hasn't dealt with fully.

So sorry op. Such a worry for you all, and a lot to deal with after FIL Flowers
I have no experience, but bumping in the hope someone else can come along and offer advice and support. Take care.

Oh that's so tough. How is she doing now?

They've finally moved her to the stroke ward DH is away into see her and get a proper update as he's had potted ones throughout the day. I just hope they don't try and kick her out with no support in place as we don't live locally

Thank you for the bump ✨ feeling rather overwhelmed with it all and it's not my mum 😔

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’ve been in the same situation with my mum, who had a big stroke at the end of January.
Mum spent a week on the acute stroke ward, and was then moved to a stroke rehab unit where she stayed for about a month. I finally brought her home yesterday, to her own place, and I’m staying with her to care for her.
She wasn’t really responding to all the rehab eg physio and occ therapy, so it was decided that she would move on - the hospital wanted her to go into a care home, but I wanted to at least try to look after her myself, so that’s what we’re doing. Before the stroke, Mum took absolutely no medication (which was amazing at 78 years old), but she’s come out of hospital with a huge supply of around 12 meds and supplements. The stroke has left her paralysed down her right side, unable to walk, and her speech has been very badly affected. It’s definitely also affected her personality (brain damage) - she’s like an empty shell to be honest - she just sits and stares ahead of herself, can’t focus on a tv show etc.
Strokes are brutal. I hope things are settling a bit for your MIL and the rest of the family are coping.
