Attendance Allowance - sent from, what happens next?

I sent off the form about 2.5 weeks ago. Am I correct in thinking that they will text me or send me a letter within 3 weeks confirming receipt?

Do they request the LPA code at that point? (Mum has Alzheimer's, I filled out the form as I have LPA)

Then does anyone know what the current waiting time is to get a decision? And also how long until Mum will receive AA?

I think the decision took about 6 weeks for us but then we got it almost straight away into the bank account, plus back dated amount.

it took about 3 months but it was back dated.

good luck

Thanks. Did you receive confirmation they had received the form?

We received a text after 2-3 weeks, and then the decision after 10 weeks from the start iirc.

Thanks. I'll schedule a day (probably a whole day!) to call them and chase it up if I haven't heard after 3 weeks...

I got a text a few days after I'd sent the form in to say they'd got it. A week later I got a phonecall to give them the lpa code. A week later I got a letter to say they had awarded my dad the full day and night rate. The back pay had actually gone in before I received the money. I sent the form on the 8th Jan and back payment in account on 22nd Jan.
I live in Scotland ( my dad's in England) and they are much slower as a relative of mine sent hers in before Christmas and they said 12 weeks

It was pretty straightforward here, I think we got it done in 2018. Just a lot of form filling but they didn't challenge it at all, can't remember timescales. GP was supportive.

I claimed for my dad on 5th February.
I got an email confirmation immediately to say they had received the claim and that email said it could take up to 12 weeks.

Normally 8-12 weeks for a decision. If granted, you may be able to get money off council tax for your mum as she has Alzheimer's (depending on how many people live with her) and if she doesn't already get pension credit it can make it easier for her to qualify (again, depending who she lives with).
