Hiring a Personal Assistant

My DM (late 70s) and DB (late 40s) live together. DM is quite active but has some serious health conditions. DB is registered disabled and has chronic health conditions. He is home bound and only gets out if DM takes him out (mostly by car). They have a cleaner and live comfortably in a bungalow.
I was reading about Personal Assistants and thinking that my DB (with help from a local charity) could employ a PA using his PIP/benefits money to take him out (when health allows) and act as a befriender. I live far away, have three kids and work full time - I can't offer practical help apart from visiting a few days at a time every few months.
I think it would be a good use of money and take the pressure off my DM and expand my DB's world. There will come a time when DM won't be able to drive.
So...I'm doing a bit of research.
Does anyone have experience of hiring a Personal Assistant? I've found a charity that will handle the payroll aspect and help with the advert. Can they act as PA to both of them?
Thanks

We have them for our children who are disabled. Having a payroll company is key. We use a simple contract. We hired from their school but you can use an agency.

Hi I'm a self employed PA/carer/enabler and happy to answer any questions you have!

Being self employed enables me to really be free to make my own decisions about what my 'job role' is. So in short yes a PA would potentially be able to support both your DM and DB.
Sorts of things I would often offer in similar situations would be
Enabling for your brother - so getting him out and about and potentially helping with some life skills if needs be.
Shopping
Personal care if required
Light housework
Life admin - making doctors appointments / help with benefits admin etc.
Help attending appointments.

Hope that helps but please feel free to ask any questions. Pm me if you would prefer!

Am currently staying with my DM after she has had surgery.

So far I've discovered her recliner chair, gas hob, gas fire, washing machine, remote control and and a ceiling light are all broken.

I've fixed the shower, kettle and dishwasher but the rest are beyond me.

She needs very little care but a PA would be invaluable.

I think this would be an excellent thing to spend money on.

Ah so it sounds pretty flexible then. Thank you, that's very helpful!
