I have tried to ask the dentist but getting not much response.

So here goes ...

Can a temporary denture last awhile? Like a year or more.

Do permanent dentures fit a lot better?

Should you wear your temp dentures all day when you get them?

Generally-
1- not usually, they are typically constructed for someone immediately after having teeth out. Bone heals and changes after teeth are removed so it's common for temporary ones to lose retention after a month, if not sooner.

2- no guarantee but definitive dentures are usually made including stages to check the bite etc, which may mean they are better retained longer-term. Making someone immediate dentures bypasses all this so they don't have a gap.

It depends on how many teeth she has had out and whether she has had any dentures before.

In general it takes 6 months for the bone to finish shrinking. Some people it will shrink a lot and their dentures become very loose very quickly and need relining , adjustments and remakes . Other people get little bone shrinkage and can wear the temporary dentures for years. Most people will be in the middle of, they can wear them , but they become progressively looser and need new ones in 3 to 6 months time.

Dentures can be worn all day but must be taken out at night, cleaned , kept damp , to let the gums breathe and recover.

Dentures are horrible things, the only reason someone can use them successfully is their cheeks, lips and tongue adapt to keep them in place. It is a skill. Some people never adapt to wearing dentures, no matter how good they are.

I've been wearing my temps for 2 years. I asked the dentist and she said if I'm happy with them and they fit there isn't a need to change them.

Very informative thanks everyone.

Ummm. Bit concerned that some people never get used to them.

Her sister did it 10 years ago. Probably better then.

She has some teeth at the front but not many.

Does anyone have good experiences with dentures?
