Hope someone has had some experience. I have joint POA with my mum for my dad. We are trying to enact it now. His share dealing account refuse because the POA document reflects my old address. I dont have any ID to prove that it's me that lived at that address (years ago). All of my ID reflects my current address (naturally). My address has been updated with the Office of the Public Guardian, but they say the original certificate still stands, they don't issue a new one. It's Lloyd's and they say it's their T&C that say your current ID must match the original POA document. I cant be the only one whose got in this stalemate with Lloyd's?

No experience.
House deeds? Are you a company director?

Do you have legal cover as part of your house insurance or indeed your DM or DF' house insurance, and you can call that helpline?
Are you a subscriber of Which? magazine and you can use their legal service?

Thank you. I'll give those suggestions a go. I was just flummoxed!

I'd be flummoxed, too @ladycardamom
Another that's just come to mind is your own will? Or even if you have done POA yourself. Maybe you did those at the old address.
Another was your NHS medical card.
Think I'm all out of ideas now.

This sounds crazy, people move! Are Lloyds saying it has to match ID docs (so passport, drivers license etc) or just that you need proof that you were previously at that old address?

If stalemate continues you could always try the Guardian's Money pages to ask for advice. They're great for taking on this type of institution when they're being ridiculous.

Harassedevictee · 12/12/2024 14:00

@ladycardamom was your old address rented or owned?

If it was owned, you could get a copy of the Land Register and possibly the transfer deeds from Land Registry showing you did live there then moved to new address. https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry

Search for land and property information

Find a property and get its title plan, title register and see who owns it

Could you look up historical information on the electoral roll, assuming you were registered?

Can you ask this specific question of the OPG and get something back from them in writing that will satisfy Lloyds?
