Elderly parents

Any HCP's out there? What happens if incapacitated dad gets noro?

I'm emetophobic and need advice just in case

My 88 yo dad recently had a stroke and is to be sent home once a care package is in place - 2 carers 4 times a day. He can't get to the loo unaided as he can't walk euthout assistance. My elderly mum nor I can lift him

Just wondering what the he'll we'd do if he came down with the dreaded noro or similar. He'll be in pads in between carer visits but obvs if he has uncontrollable d&v what on earth would we do? Would he go to hospital to be cared for or would carers increase visits? My mum wouldn't cope and would inevitably become ill herself. As I said I'm emetophobic and I'm seriously panicking about this.

Looking for reassurance that we could cope 😥

I would imagine he would have to go into hospital. Sourcing extra careres at that short notice would be impossible

@Mumof1andacat I seriously hope that would be the case 🙏

Why do you think he might get noro? I've had/got several elderly relatives in care for several years and none of them have ever had it!

Sorry but given the current nightmare it is with hospital beds, I doubt that an admission would happen for noro, he'd have to go through a&e and would likely have a lengthy wait on a trolley IF they felt an admission was warranted.
