Do I need to inform the DWP

Hi
Mum has broken a hip and is in hospital for the forseeable. Can anyone tell me if I need to tell the DWP that she is in hospital? She gets a state pension, most of which goes in a top up payment for her care home.

I'm not sure but I'd ask the hike or the Ward Clerk tomorrow. Have they kept her place at the care home available for her?

Somehow they know, my DM was in hospital for a long time, her pension was stopped at 6 weeks, this was a while ago, but I think it’s the same procedure now, so I don’t think you need to do anything.

Is always best to inform the dwp of charges into your mums living arrangements. If they keep paying her benefit when she wasn't entitled that leads to an overpayment which they demand back pretty quickly!
Don't expect the ward to do this, it's safer to call them yourself.

Thanks, I’ll get on it this week.

Yes, the local CC are paying for her room with a top up from mum. This process is all new to me and I’m grateful for all advice.

You might also get some good advice on Gransnet.

Yes as they are not allowed to make her homeless, according to the manager.
