Outdoor camera/cctv for Dad (Dementia)

Hi. Has anyone setup outdoor cameras for their elderly relative and have any recommendations?

Further to my previous thread 're Dad getting defrauded by someone coming to his house and taking his bank card, I think we need cctv type camera for his own protection. I did a quick search and Ring card camera seem ok?
I don't live nearby but want to be able to see who's calling and ideally allow record in case of any other incidents live above.

it's a balance to make sure Dad doesn't feel we are watching him but protecting him.

Does anyone done this with success?

I have a Ring doorbell. This would work for purpose but be aware there are other brands and systems which apparently are just as good/ cheaper. I got mine from Costco and my electrician charged me £30 to fit. It’s a ‘pro’ model.
As the camera is not internal, and your DF is likely to be unaware of the technology, he might not put up a fight about it. DParents would have benefited hugely. They also had bogus tradesmen who blagged they had done work and drove them to the cash point machine.

DM has a ring doorbell linked to an Alexa Show (Alexa with a screen). My DSis and I have the app on our phones so we get alerts when it's triggered and it's all recorded. DM can say "Alexa, show me the front door" which then shows her the view from the doorbell so she can see what's happening then. I think maybe if someone rings the bell, it switches to the view automatically (not 100% sure). It's been a big success for us. We all feel a lot happier knowing that she has it. I have a feeling she pays a monthly subscription to save the videos in the cloud.

Not what you’re asking, but one thing I often saw recommended on a forum for carers of people with dementia, was to scratch off the security number (except for Amex usually on the back of the card) so that nobody can use it over the phone or online.
That is, if you’re not able to take it away or cut it up anyway.

I've not heard that one before but it does sound good.

The other thing we've done is to take a lot of money out of DM's current account and move it to premium bonds. She knows but wouldn't be able to work out how to access the online account herself. She just waves the iPad at you and says "they're in there".
