Parkinson’s gift

My dad has Parkinson’s and had deteriorated recently (very poor mobility etc). He’s obviously very down about it all but his birthday is coming up and I wondered if anyone has any ideas about what to get him to make his life a little bit more comfortable? He suffers from stiffness in the morning and leg, hip and back pain throughout the day. He can’t have baths anymore so any bathing products are out. Happy to spend up to £100 or more for something amazing. Any advice and ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Does he have a heated throw? They can be very good for stiffness

Following with interest! Recent presents that have sparked a little interest have been a hot chocolate maker (velvetiser), a large size keyboard, and a heated blanket, and Uniqlo down gillet. He was never easy to buy for!

Realise these aren’t all going to help with mobility, but hope they provide some ideas.

Heated throw or back pad was a winner.

For practicality, elephants feet for furniture, a good Walker with easy grip brakes and a seat, adaptive cutlery and plates, dual handle mugs (nice adult ones not the plastic children/care home type), bedside supports to aid getting up, extra long handles/bars beside doors and wider steps to get in and out of the house. Easy flush button for the loo. Non are really ‘gift’ ideas, but they were very gratefully accepted as they made life easier and they really appreciated that the aids gave them back their independence for awhile longer.

Can he hold a Kindle? They can be used for audiobooks and for text reading.

Could he operate an Alexa or Echo Dot? We bought one for Mum for music and radio, but TBH she seemed to get a great deal of amusement from just asking it daft questions.

Thank you all. I will find out if he has a heated throw as that could be very good. He has a keyboard and a gilet. He doesn’t drink hot chocolate unfortunately. He currently refuses to use a crutch or walking stick so definitely wouldn’t use a walker (although I think it would really help him!) He has an Alexa and iPad and uses them a lot I think. He’s always been tricky to buy for and this has just made it harder!

My brother bought my dad some really super soft fancy tracksuit bottoms - they were from one of those yoga/Californian brands.

Satin fitted sheets for his bed. Best thing ever for people with Parkinson's. The limb stiffness makes it very difficult to roll over / change position in bed - satin sheets make it so much easier to move . They are a real game changer.
