Eating stale food

Just been to my Dad’s and he’s made scrambled eggs, I looked at the date on the box he’d left on the counter top and it was dated April….
I told him I was throwing the rest and he told me to leave them as they are fine.
I’m always having to sneak out of date food out of the fridge, as he seems to think if things aren’t moody or smell bad, they’re fine.
Do you think he will be ok after eating the eggs 3 months out of date?

Eggs are normally ok for about 6 weeks so April is pushing it but they might be ok. Put them in cold water, if they float they've gone bad but if they are still nudging the bottom then they're ok to eat.

I eat eggs well past their BBE date because they are, the vast majority of the time, perfectly fine. (I do the water bobbing test as per the post from @ItWasntMyFault.)

And I have a weak immune system ...

I do cook them thoroughly, mind you. Wouldn't be eating them 'rare', so to speak.

I don't think it is unusual. When my mother was admitted to hospital with a broken hip I checked her freezer. I threw away everyting that was more than 6 months out of date, it was about half the contents. She was really annoyed when she got home and saw the half empty freezer.
