Ad hoc Carer Agency

Hi

Does anyone know of an Agency where you can hire a carer for a day on an ad hoc basis.

MIL is staying with us as FIL broke his hip. It was supposed to be short term but has been 10 weeks with no end in sight.

Both DH and I work, and so far have been able to manage WFH days, but we have a clash coming up.

This time I will reschedule but we can't always do this.

We really need to be able to pay someone to keep an eye on her while we are at work

We've tried a couple of agencies but they are more about regular care.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Many thanks

Unfortunately I think your unlikely to find someone.
Your best bet would be trying to find an independent carer who has a gap or cancellation. I'm a self employed carer and would only do this type of thing very occasionally when between clients.

There is a severe shortage of carers just now so most people will be fully booked up or will be looking for regular clients

How about http://www.universalaunts.co.uk

They provide companions, housekeepers and carers. They used also to escort oversees pupils between school and airport (until we were old enough to give them the slip).

Or try asking on local facebook groups for independent carers

Good luck.

Curam Care are great for this sort of thing. They are an umbrella company for self employed carers who have been DBS checked and have insurance.

You can contact the carers yourself or you can put your own advertisement up and have carers contact you.

@DenholmElliot11 Thank you so much. I have looked at Curam Care and it looks like what we need is respite care.

MIL doesn't need 121 care in the same way as some, as she can potter and make a coffee but needs someone to be there to keep an eye on her.
