Mobility/disabled bed recommendations?

My elderly disabled mother has got to be moved into the downstairs living area for safety reasons. I am trying to convince my father that it is worth investing in a new mobility bed (single due to space) so that the back comes up to help her get in and out of bed and a more comfortable mattress. Would really appreciate recommendations for good ones that are also reasonably attractive given that it's going to be downstairs? thank you

We bought the cheapest we could get for my mum - I think it was this one:

www.bedworld.net/adjustable-beds/joseph-electric-adjustable-bed-base/?attribute_pa_size=single&gclid=CjwKCAiApvebBhAvEiwAe7mHSBFnSOUXexCTnfqse_fY3DC37m6ljSkdBUXRVxMPt1y7Z8it7MZQ6RoCim8QAvD_BwE

However it was not the success I had hoped. She could not work out how to use it to get out of bed, preferring to like down flat and sit herself up! She would also sit up and then raise the back of the bed! Also, we were told by the OT that it was too high for her and it was difficult for her to raise her legs to get into bed.

I can confirm that it is a very comfortable bed and I would happily use it myself but you might find it helpful to talk to the OT before investing in one.

Has she had a care needs assessment at home, a physio or o.t. can visit her and arrange a hospital style bed to be delivered, the district nurse can also help. Its better if she has a mobility and pressure area risk assessment done as there are lots of different mattresses. She might also benefit from other equipment like a commode, bed riser, chair riser.

thanks both that is helpful. It might be a good idea to ask the OT (if I can actually get hold of her) re mattresses.

Her gp practice may have an elderly intervention unit which is nurses and therapists, they can assess her and supply all sorts of free gadgets.
