Smartwatch (not Apple) or Android app for fall alarm?

Hi

Dad is in his 80s and had a stumble the other day (not the first) and can't remember what happened.
He tends not to ask for help so it was over a day later that he told us

Does anyone know of any good fall alarm apps on either Android phones or Android smartwatches that they would recommend.
I'm looking for something that will emit an alarm to him if it detects a fall, giving him a certain amount of time to respond.
Then - if he doesn't respond, for it to call/message people on his emergency contacts list, giving his location.

I'm ruling out Apple watches and iPhones as he's got a new Google Pixel so would like to make as few changes as possible so he doesn't get confused.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

I'm really not sure on phones and Smart watches I'm sorry but just wondering if he'd be better with a proper, monitored falls alarm?

We've just ordered one through our local council for DFIL.

You can get falls pendants with a built in falls alarm, like @priti says above. They definitely work, FIL is a regular faller. They detect the call, call the person to see if they are OK, call the designated carers and the ambulance service if needed.

I wouldn’t discount Apple watches as the fall alarm is excellent - the phone dialled emergency services after my DF fell down the stairs in the middle of the night. Without the watch, he would have been there until that evening. We also set up alerts to remind him to take his medication. He had previously refused to wear an alarm pendant but liked the watch.

@PritiPatelsMaker @LadyGardenersQuestionTime I thought the pendants only work when you're at home ? (as they're connected via the landline)
He walks a lot so we definitely need something that works when he's out and about.
Plus like Michaelmonstera mentioned with their dad, I'm not convinced my dad would wear a pendant - he'd be much more likely to forget to put it on every day.
However he's very used to wearing his fitness tracker and taking his mobile with him when he goes out which is why I'm trying to find either an Android smartwatch or Android app that gives him what he needs.

@Michaelmonstera As mentioned, he's got a new Google phone so he wouldn't want to buy an iPhone just to get an Apple Smartwatch to use with it (plus he's never had an iPhone and I'm not convinced he'd adapt to it)
I've googled and it doesn't seem like the Apple Smartwatch works that well with anything other than another Apple device?

From research, it doesn't seem like the Google Smartwatch is quite there yet, however the Samsung smartwatch might be an option....

@LookingForInfo1 you can have them on a wristband, but you’re right they only work at home. But if he falls somewhere public then surely other people will help him/he will have his phone to call you from if he needs to? Unless he’s unconscious and somewhere people won’t find him - but is that likely?

My friend has an activity tracker which clocks sudden changes in direction and velocity and will contact her emergency contact automatically unless she cancelled it. She learned that her husband got a call everytime she did something silly on her mountain bike. They definitely exist - but I'm not sure what brand it is.

You'd think, wouldn't you 😀
Unfortunately with his latest fall it took him over 24hrs to let any of us know (someone did help him and he got home but didn't think to get medical assistance until the next day)
Also, he walks a lot around the edge of a big local park so not always where there are people around to help
I'm thinking I'm going to need to put a tracking app on his phone (with his permission of course) in the short term

@JessicaBrassica thanks - I'll keep googling. I know that some smartwatches do that but need the wearer to start logging an activity first - hopefully I'll find what he needs

Thanks for all the suggestions !
