Current Processing time for LPOA, 20 weeks?

After advice on this forum I submitted an application for my Aunt's Health and Welfare LPOA in August. I know they OPG are saying 20 week turnaround, has anyone recent experience of processing times? Is 20 weeks accurate?

Social Services are really keen for the LPOA to be in place ASAP.

They do take a long time - i was doing it for MIL 4 years ago - unfortunately she died before we received it! I seem to remember they were quite helpful on the phone, if you can get through - so no harm in following up to make sure it is on track.

Thanks, it does say not to contact them before 20 weeks to follow-up. It's only been 6-7 weeks so I better leave it a bit longer.

I did my father's in 2021 and it 'only' took 8 weeks or so.

I did one last year and it was done within 12-14 weeks, I seem to remember - they certainly beat the 20 weeks they told me to expect. They did send some incorrect emails but everything arrived despite that.

Just got one finalised end of September, couple of weeks ago, I submitted end of April.

The website did take ages to show that they were processing it, so I did call to check they had received it.

I work for an estates lawyer and administer the LPAs it's taking a lot longer than 20 weeks to process them.

Yep much longer.

I submitted two to the Scottish office in May. I'm still waiting...

Goodness... I better settle down for a long wait then.. 😅

OPG isn’t fit for purpose. Expose in the Guardian last week.

My partner has just got his back for his DM. It took 19 weeks.

DH submitted one for MIL at the beginning of June and we are still waiting.

Hi, it appears to be at least 20 weeks to review the documentation- then a further 3-4 weeks to write to see if anyone objects.

we applied in May. We are currently in the checking period to see if anyone objects.

Like a lot of civil service depts, there isn’t much demand for jobs where you just scan in and file documents for minimum wage. Very high turnover of staff and reliance on agency workers. See also: DWP, Passport Office and DVLA. Any attempts to bring in new infrastructure or improve digital software is too costly given current austerity measures. Similarly, no budget to pay staff more and improve retention.

It’s been almost 21 weeks and I’m still waiting…
