Elderly parents

EOL/Covid

My elderly parent with a long standing medical condition has caught Covid and is very unwell. Their hugely debilitating condition will lead to death- there is no doubt about this the only unknown is when. They are doubly incontinent, bed bound, in constant pain and when feeling very unwell openly state that they want to go (Die). They also say that they will not go back to hospital and they want to die at home. There have been several long term visits to the hospital lately which have been very distressing.
What do we do if they worsen? We of course don't want them to be in pain but they have stated they want no intervention. Do we call an ambulance which will distress them. Will an ambulance even come due to the Covid? And if they do come what can they do if he chooses not to go to hospital? If it was a weekday we would seek the advice of their Dr who understands the terrible quality of life they have at the moment but the surgery doesn't have weekend call-outs. What happens if we don't seek medical help and they die- is that even legal? Any advice on what we may be facing welcomed.

Call your Gp or even ooh and get an advanced care plan done. Out of hours can do this. Choosing to stay at home even if that means dying is a choice your re layover can make and symptoms can be controlled.
