Shopping trolley recommendations

Wondering if anyone can recommend a shopping trolley that's sturdy/not flimsy but not too heavy to pull along? My mum is in her 80s and struggling with carrying multiple bags of shopping as well as her handbag and stick, I thought a trolley would be helpful but have no idea what to look for.

Thanks!

I got my mum one from Argos.....they have loads .....you get a lot of information about them from reading the reviews and ‘questions asked’.... my Mum is quite streamlined and lightweight but robust enough

My Mum had a Sholley but you have to push them rather than pull them. They are weighted so they are like a walker and trolley combined but easy to push, so she didn't need to use her stick. It gave my Mum the confidence she needed to go out.

4 wheel sholley. Push rather than pull but the weight doesn’t hang on your arm , and they help you walk

I got my DM a Sabichi one and it's still going strong 5 years later.

If she gets one please tell her not to go up travelators and lean on it , I've seen some awful accidents on those things with old people rolling down and breaking themselves because they think they will somehow lock like trolleys do !

She lives in a wee town and never goes very far and certainly no airports, I can't think of a single escalator in the town let alone a travelator so think she'll be ok, but thanks for the warning!

Thanks for the replies. I don't think she'd use a sholley, she'd feel a bit too "old" I think, but I'll ask her. Otherwise that Sabichi one looks good.

Our Tesco has one and it's there that it happens regularly. So awful to see and preventable . Hope you find something she likes 😊

By the way pull along trolleys are trendy now . They sell them in primark in all sorts of patterns . I use one for summer picnics ! Great invention for the bad of back !

No way!! In a million years I never would have thought shopping trolleys would be trendy Grin Suspect that in my early 40s I'm too old to look trendy with one though!

Maybe in the same way that wheeled suitcases are now the norm. Why carry a bag if you can let it take its own weight?

You can now buy a self propelling suitcase like Terry Pratchett’s Luggage www.travelandleisure.com/travel-news/ovis-vision-powered-luggage

Totally agree with Gunners. We were surprised at Alton Towers a few years ago. Every third person seemed to have one.

Have you seen the carlett ones, that’s what I have, they look like a it like a modern pram, easy to fold, you push rather than pull, around £100 but excellent quality. I am young (50 😂) but use a trolley due to disability.
