Care provider recommendations - Norfolk

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for care providers in the Acle area in Norfolk. A friend of mine (not on MN) has elderly parents who's health is becoming problematic and they are starting to realise they could do with some help. Neither of us have had any involvement with organising care in this part of the world hence reaching out to you lovely lot. Have you used/heard about a company that you were impressed with?

Contact her local authority adult social services in her area. They can't recommend but they can provide you a list of registered domicillary care agencies that cover that area- then you just ring round.

If the relative isn't self funding ie has over £23.250 in savings, then the LA may find and fund care package for them after a needs assessment under the CAre Act 2014 (ps person pays towards it based on financial assessment)

Home instead have franchises in quite a few places and get good reviews but aren’t cheap.
Try local fb groups/ church/ gp etc for recommendations

Maybe put your post in the local fb neighbours group to your friend/ relative as you won't get much traction in this site

threeteenstaximum - I'll suggest the LA approach but I think they were hoping for personal recommendations. I don't think LA would be funding. Neither of us really do Facebook, but we might be able to find someone to help.

thesandwich - I used Home Instead for my Mum before she went into a home and they were absolutely worth every penny. We do have them locally and I have suggested them but I think my friend was hoping for some other companies to compare them against. I contacted 3 companies when I was looking and HI were head and shoulders above the others.

The Care Quality Commission inspect care providers, in a similar way to how Ofsted inspect schools. You should be able to find agencies in an area or agencies with certain specialisms such as dementia care on their website.

(Like school inspection reports, the reports are only one tool for making decisions and would need to be read with a pinch of common sense.)
