Elderly parents

Where to buy clothes for the (very) elderly?

I need to buy some new clothes for the family centenarian. The order of the day is elasticated trousers and button down shirts, in sizes befitting someone who is shrinking in the way the very elderly have a tendency to.

Alas, the M&S Classic Collection has disappeared (RIP), and so gone are the days where I could shepherd her round M&S and gently herd her in the direction of the Classic Collection ("Oh no, not the Classic Collection - that's for old people - but aren't these elasticated trousers wonderful?" she'd say, not realising that she was now in the middle of the Classic Collection Grin)

Given that she no longer wishes to go out shopping, I'm looking for something I can find online, whittle down to some likely candidates, and show to her on the screen and let her choose the styles she likes.

Any suggestions? I'm in my 20s and still mourning the loss of Topshop so I haven't a bloody clue where the elderly shop nowadays!

Try Land's End maybe... Can be a bit pricey but they have a lot of sales...

My MIL is 90 and loves Uniqlo. Lots of variety, good basics and knits, elasticated waists etc.

We buy our elderly persons clothes from Peacocks. Debenhams used to also be good :l

Latelatelate · 17/05/2021 22:43

Is Damart still going?
If so, there!

I got my mum some nice stuff from cotton traders (she's not that old but dementia makes it tricky to find clothes - elasticated is a must and she's tiny compared to a few years ago)

OverByYer · 17/05/2021 22:44

My Nan liked Peacocks and Bon Marche

My mum loves The Able Label.

www.theablelabel.com/collections/

The clothes are aimed at a woman who has not completely given up on style but needs items adapted for the disabled person - so the shirts are done up with velcro, armholes are big, elasticated waistbands, lots of ponchos and wraps, front opening bras and so on.

Anything with a disability adaptation is also VAT free.

It's meant she now has a coat she can get on by herself.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - that Chums website is quite something, incontinence pads in the same section as the bras Shock Grin

Just waiting for the measurements of dear centenarian and then I can start waving some plastic around...
