Care home regrets with parents? AIBU

The care home my dad is in (Manchester) got all off the tenants' family members ( My sister and I) to send in pictures to make custom made plant pots with their family members on to boost morale during lockdown.
I thought this was so thoughtful and unexpected but at the same time made me feel like I didn't care about my parents enough. They have been in care for 6 years. I visited when I could (1,2 times a month) and tried to update them where possible.
But seeing the excitement with which my dad showed me the plant pot made me cry because I felt like i had completely neglected him. He was simply just so proud to see his two daughters on a plant pot which he could champion and he could take care off. I mean he has several pictures of us but they aren't alive like the plant I guess. I think it made him feel like he was still a part of our lives.

AIBU??

What a truly lovely idea from the Home and I'm glad your DF is so pleased with the result.

Of course YANBU, the feelings you describe are perfectly normal.

If you're missing him during lockdown, have you tried a virtual meeting with them or him or have you thought about writing him a letter?

DSIL often writes to DMIL and the staff sit her down (she's a wonderer) and read the letters to her.
